Planned Parenthood fights Illinois bill requiring wider reporting of sexual abuse

Planned Parenthood representatives are lobbying against passage of legislation in Illinois that would expand the number of people required by law to report suspected sexual abuse of children.

Current law classifies only paid professional staff members at Planned Parenthood clinics as mandated reporters. Live Action--the group that has exposed Planned Parenthood clinics for providing help to visitors who identified themselves as operating an underage prostitution ring--points out that the new law would require receptionists and volunteers to report abuse.
