Along with winning an Oscar for her unforgettable performance in 1983's Terms of Endearment, Shirley MacLaine has also penned 11 bestselling books (her twelfth, I'm Over All That and Other Confessions, was published this month), and has become a veritable New Age guru. But, as MacLaine confessed on The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday, she's also managed to find the time to have "an awful lot of lovers," "a lot of awful lovers" and -- perhaps most surprisingly -- "three people in one day."
Oprah seemed a bit taken aback by this final revelation about the actress' apparently vigorous sex life, joking in response: "How did you arrange that, like one for breakfast, one for later in the day? What?"
MacLaine replied, "Something like that." She then elaborated, saying that this "sexcapade" occurred "on a political campaign, where everybody was doing the same thing. I just didn't want to be left out."
In addition to the tale of that marathon day, MacLaine dished to Oprah about the affairs she had with her costars, saying that she often fell for her leading men. One man she never fooled around with, however, was her Terms of Endearment costar Jack Nicholson: "Too much for me!" MacLaine insisted. "No, he's too much. I guess I liked the dangerous chemistry if it was controllable. His isn't! He is authentically dangerous."
For once, Oprah appeared actually speechless.
MacLaine might be about to turn 77, but she proves that today's wild celebrities have nothing on the crazy exploits of Hollywood legends such as herself!
