Barkin, 57, dating Levinson's son, 26

Ellen Barkin

Veteran actress Ellen Barkin is dating the 26-year-old son of famed moviemaker Barry Levinson, the director who launched her film career.

The 57 year old, who found fame in Levinson's 1980s film Diner, is romantically involved with the moviemaker's writer/director son Sam and they have reportedly been living together in New York for the last two years.

They are said to have met while Sam was writing Barkin's 2010 film Operation: Endgame and the Ocean's Thirteen star leads the cast of Sam's latest movie, Another Happy Day. They were pictured hugging and kissing when the film was premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "They go out, they're photographed together, they don't keep it secret."

Barkin is mother to two children from her first marriage to actor Gabriel Byrne. After their split, she wed businessman Ronald Perelman, but that union also ended in divorce in 2006.

Curiosport - Shakira-Piqué, farsa en su amor?

- 0

Has Jennifer Aniston Finally Found the Perfect Man?

jennifer aniston new man

Whatever will we do if one day Jennifer Aniston finally gets it right and we can't bemoan the love life of "Poor Jen" any longer? That day may have finally arrived; it's time to find a new sad-relationship-sack, America.

Jen's latest beau, actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux, who reportedly met her friends a week ago, might actually be the perfect man to be the next Mr. Aniston. Here's why:

1. He's age appropriate. At 39 to Jen's 42, this isn't another May-December fling.

2. He's just the right amount of famous. Justin isn't more renowned than Jen, which could be a self-esteem blow, but he does have a certain amount of fame cache, so he gets Jen's world. "I like that he's a successful guy who is comfortable behind the scenes," says relationship and dating coach Tracey Steinberg. "Jen gets a lot of media attention and I'd hate for her to be with a man who tried to compete with her for the spotlight. It sounds to me like a good match and hope it works out for them."

3. He's smart and funny. Remember John Mayer, Jen's crooner ex who thought he was both smart and funny, but most of the time was just a jackass? Theroux is the opposite. He co-wrote the hilarious 'Tropic Thunder' and handled the screenplay for 'Iron Man 2,' and he has a degree in visual arts and drama from Bennington College. "Not only does he have a strong educational background, he has a resume that trumps most actors in Hollywood. Justin has been on TV sitcoms, starred on Broadway, directed films, and he writes his screenplays!" says HollywoodLife.com senior writer Chloe Melas. "Jen needs someone who understands the industry and has a strong career of his own, which is very attractive to an accomplished woman."

4. He has friends. Jen is a social creature so a moody loner just wouldn't do. Justin runs with a crew that includes Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr.; all age-appropriate, famous enough friends for Jen.

5. He just doesn't seem like a douche. This one might be the hardest to quantify, but it might also be the most important. Jen has a history of dating douchey men. Since her breakup with Brad Pitt she has gone through John Mayer (the king of douchey behavior), Vince Vaughn (during his perpetually single years) and Bradley Cooper (who doesn't want to be a douche but he's just soooo good looking). More importantly than anything else, Justin seems like a good, normal, nice guy. That's really all America wants for its sweetheart.

Actresses Rachel McAdams, Mischa Barton and Mena Suvari: The rise of blondarexia: Latest hair craze

You need to be pretty brave to follow most fashion trends these days - whether it's cut out dresses, bare midriffs or thigh-high split skirts.
But the latest beauty craze - bleaching your hair so much it is practically white - has undesirable longer term effects.
Blondarexia, or, as the Urban Dictionary defines it: 'Being so addicted to bleaching your hair that it's almost white, flat, monochromatic, and burnt to a frizzle,' is spreading.
Rachel McAdams, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan and Mena Suvari have all been spotted with pale blonde locks recently.
Jennifer Aniston first drew attention to the craze back in February. Her brassy locks surprised fans who are used to seeing her looking immaculate.
Until Jennifer tried out the look, its most loyal followers were reality TV stars and Lady Gaga - but the eccentric popstar sensibly wears her white hair in wig form.
Rachel McAdams turned heads with her newly-bleached locks in Cannes last month where she was promoting Woody Allen's film Midnight in Paris.
Misha Barton is also a recent convert. She went just a little too white during a dye-job before stepping out at Pia Mishi's website launch on Wednesday night.
And Mena Suvari displayed all the signs of a blondarexia sufferer as she walked around Beverly Hills this week.

Raymond Clark III Sentenced to 44 Years for Annie Le Murder

Former Branford resident Raymond Clark III took responsibility for the sexual assault and murder of Yale doctoral student Annie Le in 2009, just before he received a 44-year prison sentence in New Haven Superior Court Friday.

The slain medical researcher’s parents and other close relatives made emotional statements prior to the sentencing, sometimes choking up tearfully before struggling to continue.

Although some members of the victim’s family felt Clark should have received a life sentence, Superior Court Judge Roland Fasano said the sentence would guarantee a conviction and spare both Le’s and Clark’s families the need to relive the crime in a public courtroom.

Leslie Nielsen keeps fans laughing from beyond the grave with 'let 'er rip' epitaph

Comic legend: Nielsen rose to fame in the cult spoof films Airplane! and The Naked Gun trilogy
Comic legend: Nielsen rose to fame in the cult spoof films Airplane! and The Naked Gun trilogy
They say that laughter never dies and legendary comedian Leslie Nielsen has proved them right.
The late comic, who had audiences around the world in hysterics in his hit films Airplane! and The Naked Gun, has had the last laugh thanks to a cheeky inscription on his gravestone.
Nielsen passed away in November 2010 at the age of 84 and in a final fitting tribute to his love of fart jokes the comic requested that, ‘Let ‘er rip’ was inscribed on his gravestone.

Nielsen loved gags about gas and whoopee cushions and promised in a 1996 interview that the line would be his epitaph.
The Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is also home to a bench under a shaded tree in Nielsen’s honour with a more polite inscription of: ‘Sit down whenever you can.’

Originally from Canada, Nielsen started out his career as a serious actor but it was his deadpan humour that catapulted him to fame in the 1980 hit Airplane!

The spoof comedy launched legendary catch-phrases such as, ‘Don't call me Shirley.'

The leading man had found his niche and went on to enjoy phenomenal box office success with The Naked Gun trilogy.

Nielsen was married four times, and had two children from his second marriage, Maura and Thea Nielsen.

When he passed away quietly in his sleep due to complications from pneumonia on November 28, his fourth wife Barbaree was by his side, along with family and friends.

Shia LaBeouf: Megan Fox Uncomfortable With Sex Symbol Status Unlike Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Shape-shifting robots, a nerdy guy and a bombshell is a movie formula that Megan Fox never got comfortable with - according to her former "Transformers" co-star, Shia LaBeouf.

"Megan developed this Spice Girl strength, this woman-empowerment [stuff] that made her feel awkward about her involvement with Michael [Bay], who some people think is a very lascivious filmmaker, the way he films women," the "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" star told The Los Angeles Times Hero Complex blog.

PLAY IT NOW: 2011 CinemaCon: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Talks ‘Transformers 3’

"Mike films women in a way that appeals to a 16-year-old sexuality. It's summer. It's Michael's style. And I think [Fox] never got comfortable with it. This is a girl who was taken from complete obscurity and placed in a sex-driven role in front of the whole world and told she was the sexiest woman in America. And she had a hard time accepting it," Shia continued. "When Mike would ask her to do specific things, there was no time for fluffy talk. We're on the run. And the one thing Mike lacks is tact. There's no time for, 'I would like you to just arch your back 70 degrees.'"

However, Megan's replacement, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley -- who was recently named #1 on Maxim's annual Hot 100 List -- felt more at ease embracing her blockbuster eye candy status.

Microsoft officially unveils Windows 8

Microsoft-Windows-8-previewMicrosoft has officially unveiled some key new features of its forthcoming operating system. The next-generation OS, which may or may not be called “Windows 8” (its “internal code-name”), delivers a completely re-imagined user interface, with a heavy emphasis on touch-based functionality that takes a hefty helping of inspiration from the Windows Phone UI.
One of the first major design changes from previous Windows versions is the completely overhauled Windows Start menu, which has been replaced with a colorful tiled design that evokes the Exposé screen of Firefox, or other similar quick-screen-navigation features found in most new web browsers. Rather than web pages, however, the new Start screen shows both static program icons and widgets, called “live tiles,” which provide constant notifications and updates. Windows 8 also allows users to access all the files on their computer in the same visualized way that programs are accessed, which helps make the OS easy to navigate with touch alone.

There's two of them! Sarah Palin bumps into her double as One Nation tour rolls into Boston

Sarah Palin had already managed to arrive in Boston at the same time as her Republican rival, Mitt Romney.
But today the former Alaskan governor also bumped into another very familiar face - Cecilia Thompson, a professional Palin impersonator.
Smiling broadly as she hugged her mirror image, the publicity-hungry Mrs Palin even had a job offer for Mrs Thompson - press spokesman.

As her bemused father, Chuck Heath, looked on, she said: 'Now you go talk to all these reporters. And you speak for me.’

Mrs Thompson, from New England, was waiting for Mrs Palin in the pews when she arrived to visit Old North Church on her One Nation bus tour.

Jessica Biel Stars in New Darren Aronofsky-Directed Revlon Commercial

When we heard Darren Aronofsky was directing a Revlon commercial, we could only imagine the possibilities. Would it be a one-minute exposé on the human condition? Would we be subjected to an overdose a la 'Requiem for a Dream' or a triumphant 'Wrestler'-like story? Would it even make sense? Unfortunately, the ad seems to be like any other straightforward makeup commercial, just with a bit of an artsy twist.

Shot entirely in black and white, the 60-second spot stars actress Jessica Biel along with singer/rapper/producer Pharrell Williams, who also composed the music in the commercial. The ad begins with Biel in a black dress sitting on the bed of some high-end hotel as Pharrell walks down a long, dark hallway. Eventually, she puts on her Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara, which includes the requisite close-up on the label, as Pharrell steps into the hotel room.

'Drive at 80mph on motorways'

Motorway speed limits could be raised from 70 to 80mph under radical plans being studied by ministers.
But drivers on congested sections of Britain's expressways could be forced to slow to 50mph under an official review of speed limits by the Department of Transport which is being considered by Transport Minister John Spellar.
Officials believe that the higher limit - rigidly enforced - would restore drivers' respect for all speed limits after surveys repeatedly showed that more than half of all drivers regularly exceed 70mph on motorways because it is "too slow".
The move would help mend relations with Britain's 30 million motorists after bruising encounters over the proliferation of "spy" cameras and the fuel tax protests more than a year ago. The higher limit would bring Britain closer into line with other European countries where 80mph is the norm.
Motorways are Britain's safest roads with drivers eight times less likely to have an accident than on a road in a built-up area, and motoring organisations have long demanded a more "realistic" limit that would enable drivers to complete long journeys in a shorter time.
Experts also point out that even a modest modern car is easily capable of travelling well above 70mph in safety. By setting a more realistic limit, officials believe, motorists would be more likely to obey lower limits elsewhere.
By demonstrating that ministers have conducted a thorough review of limits it would be easier to introduce 50mph thresholds on highly congested sections of motorway and more 20mph zones outside schools.
Officials within the Department of Transport are divided over the 80mph plan but are keen to implement 50mph limits in selected areas, claiming it cuts congestion by smoothing out the flow of traffic on heavily-used sections.

Tito Ortiz Nude Photo Leaked; Another Hack Job?

Twitter fans of Tito Ortiz got an eyeful Thursday afternoon when a full frontal nude pic appeared on the photo stream connected to the mixed martial artist's official account. The Tito Ortiz nude photo, seen here in part, shows the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion in what appears to be a log cabin without a single stitch of clothing on. While some have said the photo looks fake, others chalk up the blurry appearance to the use of a cell phone camera. In response to the nude photo's mysterious online appearance, Tito tweeted, "Someone hack my [expletive] phone." The 36-year-old later added, "Sorry people." Tito began dating former porn star Jenna Jameson in 2006. The pair are parents to twin boys Jesse James and Journey Jett, now two years old. He also has a son named Jacob from a previous marriage. The father of three was on his way to his recently opened Punishment Training Center when the Tito Ortiz nude photo first surfaced. While Tito seems terribly embarrassed over the whole thing, over an hour since posting that he had been hacked the full pic remains visible in his photo stream.

Canada Post, union meet to avert strike

President and CEO of Canada Post Deepak Chopra is meeting with Canadian Union of Postal Workers president Denis Lemelin in Ottawa to try to avert a strike. Pawel Dwulit/Canadian Press
The president of Canada Post is meeting with his counterpart at the union representing postal workers in a bid to avert a possible strike.
Deepak Chopra, president and CEO of Canada Post and Canadian Union of Postal Workers president Denis Lemelin are meeting in Ottawa on Wednesday to find common ground to try to reach a deal and avoid a disruption of mail service.
Labour Minister Lisa Raitt said she is pleased at the development. "The parties are still meeting and the best possible outcome is for them to come to their own deal," she said from Ottawa. "They're at the table now. We want them to get a deal. That's mainly the focus."
Raitt declined to answer a reporter's question about legislating postal workers back to work.
The two sides have been in contract talks for more than seven months. The union rejected Canada Post's final offer and tabled its own counter-offer on Monday.
Canada Post called the union's offer "out of touch" with the challenges currently facing the Crown corporation, which includes a core letter mail business that has fallen by more than 17 per cent since 2006, and a deficit of $3.2 billion.
Postal workers have indicated they are prepared to walk off the job at midnight Thursday if their contract demands aren't met. Canada Post said small businesses, rural communities and seniors who rely on mail service to deliver their pension cheques would be particularly hard hit by a strike.
The union, which represents close to 50,000 letter carriers and other workers, is asking for a four-year contract with wage increases of 3.3 per cent in the first year and 2.75 in years two and three. Sick leave and pensions are also issues.
The average starting wage for postal workers is $23 an hour. Canada Post has tabled an offer that includes a defined benefit pension plan for both new and existing employees, up to seven weeks vacation and job security.

TV Review, THE VOICE – Season 1- “Battles, Part 4”

NBC’s alternate reality version of AMERICAN IDOL excels with its coaches, but the Battle format leaves a lot to be desired. When THE VOICE premiered last month, it quickly proved to be one of NBC’s surprise breakout hits. It’s a reality music competition in the vein of AMERICAN IDOL , but the twist is, the “coaches” picked their favorites with the backs turned tothe contestants. They were judging them on talent, not by how they looked.
It was a great idea, and with strong coaches like Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine (of Maroon 5), it lended some fresh voices and some current pop validity to the proceedings.
Then the show started the Battles rounds, and well, things have been hit and miss since. Here’s the problem, “Battles, Part 4” is the fourth week we’ve had the contestants slowly widdled down to the final 16. Each coach picks 4 contestants apiece and in order to get there, they have to pit artists in a musical Tunderdome where two contestants sing off each other with only one leaving the victor. Curtis Grimes and Emily Valentine perform on THE VOICE - Season 1 - “Battles, Part 4”

Lauren Alaina Says Kissing Scotty McCreery on Finale Was a Hoax

The runner-up appeared on ‘Live! With Regis and Kelly’ today, where she spilled that her lip lock with the country ‘Idol’ winner was nothing more than the ultimate dare.
“How about that Scotty guy, huh?” Regis asked Lauren, who was practically giddy in her stagechair, but went sly when her counterpart was brought up. “Oh, he’s great!” she replied coyly.
While the 16-year-old Georgia cutie denied that she and the 17-year-old North Carolina cowboy are dating, Regis and Kelly asked the question we are all dying to know: Did she want to kiss him? “Someone dared me to,” she spilled, though she wouldn’t say who when asked. “But you wanted to kiss Scotty!” Regis prodded. To which the blushing teen replied, “Well…” “Double dog dare, that’s what it was,” she insisted after Kelly brought it up. “You have to do it if you get double dog dared, it’s just like the rules.”
So there you have it — double dog dare rules are still in play in 2011, and Lauren Alaina kissed Scotty McCreery on a dare. Somehow, we don’t think this will be the last we hear of the pair!

Veteran CNBC anchorMark Hainesdies at 65

Remember other celebrities who died this year CNBC President Mark Hoffman called Haines a "building block" of the network. "With his searing wit, profound insight and piercing interview style, he was a constant and trusted presence in business news for more than 20 years,"
Hoffman said in a statement to CNBC employees. "From the dotcom bubble to the tragic events of 9/11 to the depths of the financial crisis, Mark was always the unflappable pro. Mark loved CNBC and we loved him back. He will be deeply missed."

X-Men: First Class: Brainy blockbuster

Starring Michael Fassbender,James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon, January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence and Rose Byrne. Directed by Matthew Vaughn. 132 minutes. Opensmidnight June 2 at major theatres. PG We interrupt this summer ofblah sequels and pointless remakes for some astonishing news. It turns out even cash cows can moointelligently.
X-Men: First Class is the welcome case in point, a blockbuster with brains. So much so, in fact, that newcomers to the X-Men saga might well be advised to do a little advance homework, or risk missing all the subtle connections and foreshadowing of things to come.
The movie is a reboot of a Marvel Comics franchise thathad worn out its welcome, to the point that even a 2009 prequel, X-Men Origins:Wolverine , felt like X-cess baggage. Maybe not at the box office, where sameness often sells, but certainly in the hearts and minds of many fans.
The new film, set mainly in the Cold War combustion of 1962, is the second prequel and numerically X-Men 5 , but it doesn’t feel like it. Director Matthew Vaughn brings similar freshness to this comic creation as he didto Kick-Ass , and manages to do so while hewing to the saga’s serious dramatic intent.

Blake Lively's rep says nude pics circulating on Internet aren't Blake (photos)

Anyone who published photos of a purportedly nude Blake Lively might want to lawyer up.
The day after a series of photos of a nude woman resembling "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively were published on the Internet, the actress' rep came out swinging.
"The photos of Blake Lively which have just surfaced on various Web sites including Perez Hilton and Zap2it.com are 100 percent fake," Lively's rep said in a statement. "Blake has never taken nude photos of herself. Blake will pursue legal action against the publication which initially published these photographs and any other outlets that republish them in any manner."
Several of the photos, uploaded to a file sharing site, show the woman's face obscured by the phone she's taking the photos with. One shows her face unobstructed.
Zap2it.com responded to Lively's rep's on its blog, stating: "We're pretty impressed by the faker's attention to detail, to say the least!"

Rare photos of Marilyn Monroe rediscovered

Marilyn Monroe poses in a 1953 photo. (Credit: AP) (CBS)
Talk about a garage sale find - a New Jersey man recently rediscovered an envelope of negatives he bought for $2 in the 1980s, which turned out to be rare pictures of Hollywood icons Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield.
Anton Fury didn't do anything with them at the time, according to reports, but he found the negatives again earlier this year after a flood at his studio forced him to clean out his belongings.
Fury, a photographer, told the New York Daily News that 33 of the images are of Monroe (you can see some of them here), and another 71 are of Mansfield. He took the images to David Streets, a Beverly Hills art dealer and appraiser, who thinks the Monroe images were taken around 1950.
"This is before she became the iconic Marilyn Monroe," Streets noted. Monroe would have been 24 in 1950, a big year for the then-still-unknown actress due to her roles in "The Asphalt Jungle" and "All About Eve." According to CNN, she wore two bathing suits (one of them a bikini) and short pants for the poolside shoot.
The mystery surrounding the photos - including who took them - is what Streets said drew him in.
"The fun part about it is we're all kind of sharing in the beginning stages," Streets told the Daily News. "The adventure is going to be finding out where, who, what, why and when."
Fury reportedly plans to sell the photos at auction.

Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin driven by Zizie Ezette

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite his remarks in Parliament about women being bad drivers, Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin is being driven around the city by his wife Zizie Ezette.

She said she drives him around Kuala Lumpur because “he trusts my driving”.

Zizie said she had to follow her husband's tight schedule as MP, including making trips to his constituency in Sabah.

However, the 33-year-old actress denied that she was quitting acting.

She admitted she had been off the radar ever since she tied the knot with the controversial MP in December 2009.

“I'm still in the process of getting to know my husband, his life and his work,” she added.

Zizie said she had no inkling that being married to a politician could be so tough.

She added that she was hurt by reports in the Malay dailies that she had quit acting.

“It hurts when people say I've quit showbusiness because I married a rich Datuk,” she told The Daily Chilli in an exclusive interview.

X Factor: Rumors leak Simon Cowell gave Cheryl Cole the axe early?

Simon Cowell, American Idol winner of the meanest celebrity judge award, might be involved with the firing of Cheryl Cole from his new show X Factor — or not. Rumors are swirling thanks to a variety of conflicting entertainment journals reporting that Simon Cowell fancies himself a Donald Trump reality show type, just waiting for his moment in the spotlight to say, “You’re FIRED!” and others that say the outwardly cold-hearted but secretly warm and fuzzy teddy bear was taken by surprise when Cheryl Cole was told — not so politely – that as a new reality television show judge, America had already voted her off. The celebrity scandal now ensuing is a grand one, as everyone is planning to tune in to the X Factor now that American Idol 2011 has wrapped up. While celebrity teen Scotty McCreery is hot news in the celebrity gossip circles for winning American Idol and then Scotty kissing Lauren Alaina, nothing will keep his name in the press more than a fat and juicy celebrity scandal like a mystery about who fired a key star on a television show like X Factor.

Patrick Tse admits Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung are fighting

Hong Kong screen veteran Patrick Tse on Tuesday let slip that his son Nicholas Tse has indeed been fighting with wife his Cecilia Cheung, reported Hong Kong media.

"It is a small matter; don't know why it kept getting escalated [by the media].

"Which couple doesn't fight?" said Patrick Tse, when asked if the statements made by popular Hong Kong radio personality Eileen Cha are true.

Cha had earlier claimed that Nicholas Tse and Cheung are now a couple in name only and are on the brink of separation after fighting for some time.

She further alleged that Cheung had demanded her husband turn over virtually all his assets to her, adding that cracks in their marriage had appeared long before Cheung's widely reported meeting with Hong Kong actor Edison Chen last month.

Patrick Tse expressed that he was furious with Cha for interfering with his family's affairs and said her comments were as irresponsible as they were inaccurate.

"What right does she have to talk about things?

"I will scold her if I see her. After all, these are somebody else's family matters. How can she know when even I don't?" said Tse.

Despite raising the ire of many netizens and Patrick Tse for her comments on Cheung's marriage, Cha maintained that she had done nothing wrong.

"I don't want to comment on this further.

"I only did what I should do from a journalist's standpoint, just reporting the truth," said Cha.

Naomi Campbell vs. Cadbury chocalate

A new ad for Cadbury chocolate is leaving a bitter taste with Naomi Campbell. The supermodel is looking at "every option available," including legal action, in response to a promotion that compares the celebrity to a Dairy Milk Bliss bar.

The ad reads, "Move over Naomi, there's a new diva in town," and shows the candy bar nestled in diamonds. The campaign ran in supermarkets and newspapers in the U.K.

Campbell told the U.K. newspaper the Independent, "I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humor in this. It is insulting and hurtful."

The star, who has been the center of controversies in the past (forced community service for hurling a cellphone at her maid comes to mind), is this time being backed by the British organization Operation Black Vote. The group called on the U.S. company Kraft, which owns Cadbury, to apologize and is considering a boycott of the company's products. Worse, Naomi's mom is mad.

Photographer Anton Fury searches clues about pre-fame shots of Marilyn Monroe

In 1980, photographer Anton Fury paid two dollars at a Parsippany, New Jersey garage sale for a folder full of black and white negatives of Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield (he calls it "probably my greatest garage sale discovery ever"). The photos have apparently never been published before, according to CNN, and their origins remain a mystery. Fury is working with Beverly Hills art dealer David W. Streets hoping to find out more about the photos, which they believe were taken in 1950. Streets says "I know they were taken here in Los Angeles...from the backgrounds that we see in the photos...You see Hollywood Hills, Hollywood 1950s architecture." He's hoping people see the photos and figure out more details, so pipe up if that pool looks familiar.

Hot Times Call For Cool Air Conditioners

Temperatures above 90 degrees require air conditioners. People are looking not only for a cool answer to hot weather, but convenience, too. There are window units alreay around but more people prefer portable air conditioners because they can be moved from one room to another easily. Although you still needs to be closer to a window. This is very simple to hook up a portable air conditioner. "Your hose locks on the back of the unit. Just stick it in and give it a turn counter-clockwise. This hose is 3 feetlong. A built-in evaporator evaporates the water out the hose. Also, if you've got a sliding window, you can put it in the window vertically. Many units include dehumidifiers, air cleaners and remote controls -- features to help cool down those hot days. Portable air conditioners can run anywhere from$300 on up. Regardless of what kind of air conditioning unit you buy, bigger isn't necessarily better. Check the size of the room you want to air condition. If the air conditioning unit is too strong for the room, you could be wasting money.

Carla Bruni’s round belly confirms pregnancy rumors

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy showed off a rounded belly last Thursday. This confirms rumors which stated she was pregnant.
Italian-born Bruni, who madea career as a singer, already has a son from a former relationship but has frequently stated that she would like to have a child with Nicolas Sarkozy. It would be the fourth child for Sarkozy after the three sons he has from his former two marriages.
Posing for photographs at the a Group of Eight summit in the French resort of Deauville, she wore a loose-fitting white mock dress which from time to time stretched over an obvious bump around the midriff.
She has not confirmed the rumors of her pregnancy so far, but she didn’t make any effort to dismiss them. She fended off any direct questions about it and started concealing the heavymidriff with baggy clothing.
A British charity delivered a maternity basket containing a childbirth kit and hygiene supplies to Carla Bruni to publicize the issue of child mortality in developing countries. President Nicolas Sarkozy refused any comment on the reports that they are expecting their first child together. A German newspaper however quoted Sarkozy’s father saying the rumors are true.
"I'm glad to be having a grandchild".
Voici, a French glossy magazine, cited sources saying that Carla was “expecting twins in October”.
She kept the mystery with a series of interviews: "My lips are sealed to protectsomething."

LRG hip-hop clothing designer Jonas Bevacquafound dead

The Twittersphere was buzzing about Bevacqua on Tuesday: "I just learned about the passing of a revolutionary mind," one fan tweeted. "RIPto Jonas Bevacqua the Co-Founder of LRG, You brought much swag to this world, rest in peace," said another. -- Jenn Harris

Kim Kardashian flashes her ring in Monaco

Kim made sure to flash her 20.5 carats in Monaco this weekend, where she and her fiancé attended the Amber Lounge nightclub's benefit fashion show for the 2011 Special Olympics. Other stars at the event included Prince Albert of Monaco, his fiancée Charlene Wittstock and singer Taio Cruz, who performed his hit song Break Your Heart.

Schiavone survives scare to reach semis

Defending champion Francesca Schiavone dug herself out of a huge hole to beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 1-6 7-5 7-5 and reach the semi-finals of the French Open.
The fifth seed looked to be heading out of the tournament when she trailed 4-1 in the second set but Schiavone is certainly a fighter and she gradually reeled Pavlyuchenkova back in.
A couple of superb one-handed backhands enabled the Italian to break for a 6-5 lead in the second set and from there it seemed there was only going to be one winner.
Pavlyuchenkova, the world's best teenager at 15th in the rankings, had knocked out third seed Vera Zvonareva to reach the last eight at a grand slam for the first time in her career.
The Russian continued to fight hard but her chances looked slim at best when Schiavone moved into a 5-1 lead.
There was another twist to come, though, as Pavlyuchenkova defied her flagging fortunes to win three games in succession. She then created two break points when Schiavone served for the match for a second time, taking the second with a mis-hit return.
From 5-5, though, the Russian faltered again, losing her serve and then finally succumbing as Schiavone served out for a place in the last four against either Svetlana Kuznetsova or Marion Bartoli.
Schiavone felt her extra experience had helped her against such a young opponent, saying: ‘The more I play, the better I play. That's always been the case. I started much too slowly. But by the end I felt much better and I could play better tennis.
‘She played really well but maybe she has less experience than me. Today I think I used my 30 years.’ The expressive Italian was a hugely popular winner when she beat Samantha Stosur last year and she delighted Court Philippe Chatrier again today. She said: ‘I love tennis when I can express myself. I am transparent, so you can understand how I play and how I feel. Maybe I shouldn't show so much. I am like this on the court and off it.
‘I was 6-1 4-1 down and I was saying, “Francie, this is the way things go. Today it is like this. Keep going”. I was really sad inside, but what can you do? Nobody could change things except me.’
Schiavone's fightback continued a theme at Roland Garros this year, with Maria Sharapova, Li Na and Vera Zvonareva all winning matches they looked favourites to lose while Kim Clijsters blew a big lead against Arantxa Rus.
The Italian gave credit to the surface, saying: ‘Clay always gives you a chance. Grass and hard courts, much less so. On clay you have to go to the net and shake hands before you can say the match is finished.’ Pavlyuchenkova, 19, admitted the situation got to her and praised Schiavone for her comeback.
‘It was very tough match and it's very difficult to lose this kind of match,’ said the Russian. ‘I'll just try to move on and I will try to take all the positive things. It's very good experience. It's my first quarter-final and it's never easy to play a good game and to win easily in the quarter-finals, especially against Francesca. She was really great today.’

Clijsters stunned in second round of French Open

PARIS (AP) -- There were plenty of excuses available for Kim Clijsters after a stunning collapse in the second round of the French Open against a woman ranked 114th. In assessing her 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 loss to Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands on Thursday, the second-seeded Clijsters could have pointed to her heavily taped right ankle, which she hurt while dancing barefoot at her cousin's wedding last month. In recounting how she managed to waste two match points and drop 11 of the last 12 games after leading 5-2 in the second set, the Belgian could have mentioned that she last entered the French Open in 2006, and had played a total of five clay-court matches anywhere since. And in explaining her 65 unforced errors - 43 more than her opponent made - and 10 double-faults, Clijsters could have reminded everyone that she hadn't competed at all since late March because of that bum ankle and previous injuries to her right shoulder and wrist. Instead, the winner of the last two Grand Slam titles, and four overall, pointed a finger squarely at herself and an odd crisis of confidence. The 27-year-old Clijsters also gave credit to the 20-year-old Rus, who entered the day with a 3-4 career record in major tournaments and only twice before had been to Court Philippe Chatrier - and those visits were as a spectator. After delivering one of the most surprising tennis results in recent years, Rus acknowledged she was nervous at the outset, perhaps because Clijsters is one of her favorite players, someone she used to cheer for when watching on TV. She said she had trouble dealing with wind that gusted at upward of 20 mph, making the balls move unexpectedly at times and occasionally kicking up clouds of loose clay into players' eyes. Those conditions led to this bon mot from Rafael Nadal: "If you play good, seems like much less wind. If you are playing bad, seems like a hurricane.'' The five-time French Open champion wasn't forced to work nearly as hard as he did in getting past John Isner in five sets Tuesday, but Nadal was hardly satisfied after beating 48th-ranked Pablo Andujar of Spain 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (4). He needed to erase eight set points after trailing 5-1 in the third against Andujar, who said he thinks Nadal is "going through perhaps a period of doubt.'' Also reaching the third round were past Grand Slam finalists Robin Soderling and Andy Murray, along with No. 10 Mardy Fish, the last U.S. man in the field. Six seeded men lost: No. 8 Jurgen Melzer of Austria, No. 20 Florian Mayer of Germany, No. 24 Sam Querrey of the U.S., No. 27 Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, No. 28 Nikolay Davydenko of Russia and No. 32 Kevin Anderson of South Africa. Davydenko, a French Open semifinalist in 2005 and 2007, was beaten in five sets by Antonio Veic of Croatia, a qualifier ranked 227th whose reward is a third-round match against Nadal. Garcia was the youngest and, at 188th, lowest-ranked woman left, and was playing in only the second tour-level event of her nascent career. Many expect great things from her, including Murray, who after beating Simone Bolelli 7-6 (3), 6-4, 7-5, took to Twitter and wrote, "Girl sharapova is playing is going to be No.1 in world one day caroline garcia, what a player u heard it here 1st.'' Sharapova's take? "She's on her way up, definitely.'' Actually, Garcia looked like the poised veteran early, taking the first set and a 4-1 lead in the second, buoyed by a partisan crowd that roared with approval after her 17 groundstroke winners, seven more than Sharapova accumulated. But during a changeover, spectators raised a ruckus by doing the wave, and Garcia acknowledged later that flustered her a bit. "I had many things going in my head, because I was leading. I was playing well. She was not really in the court,'' said Garcia, who now will play in the junior tournament. "And then she reacted just like a champion, because she is a great champion.'' The French Open is the one major title Sharapova doesn't own, but she and Svetlana Kuznetsova are the only women with multiple Grand Slam trophies who are still around. That's because the Williams sisters didn't enter the French Open - and because Clijsters already is unexpectedly headed home.

‘Single Ladies’ review: Stacey Dash, LisaRaye mirror ‘Basketball Wives’ formula

The scripted new series “Single Ladies” packed in so many music references, I half-expected VH1 to resurrect “Pop Up Video,” with informative thought bubbles hovering over the heads of Stacey Dash, LisaRaye, and Charity Shea. The cameos were in full effect on “Single Ladies,” an original two-hour movie turned TV series.  First it was Eve .  Then TLC’s Chilli stopped by.  Then Common played a Mayor while Jermaine Dupri and the “Real Housewives” Kandi Burruss partied in the background.

Terrelle Pryor, NBA Finals 2011, Basketball Wives and Tuesday's Hot Sports News

Clear out the foundation of the Ohio State football program and all you have left is dirt. Nowthat Jim Tressel has packed up, amid the impending destruction of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the focus is shifting to just how far, wide and deep their transgressions go. Again, it’s not as if anyone should be surprised. These days, scandals in college athletics are as common as rabid fandom and BCSarguments. The questions now becomes about the next steps. What will this mean for the Ohio State program? What sanctions will be imposed? If you are in the Ohio State inner circle, you must be thinking: "How long will we have to wait to get back on top?"
The Sports Illustrated investigation into Ohio State was not eye-opening, but was more validation for those that never believed a big-time school could sustain success for so long and be so clean.
The new target of the NCAA will be Terrelle Pryor. Pryor must have thought his misdoings would have blown over by now, but he’d be sorely mistaken. His nightmare is just beginning. College athletes do their best to keep those skeletons in the closet. Once you open that closet, you can’t close it again. For more on the Ohio State football scandal and the rest of Tuesday’ssports topics, stay right here.

'Basketball Wives' Season 3 premiere bonus clip: Meeka trashes Royce because she was a dancer

Basketball Wives " returned last night with its Season 3 premiere -- and it picked up right where all the drama left off last season: Everyone's mad at Royce, Tami hates Evelyn and Shaunie pretty much stays out of it all.
Fans were also introduced to a new Wife: Meeka, who'smarried to former Golden State Warrior player-turned-scout Speedy Claxton .
In a bonus clip that VH1 didn't air, Meeka dines with her husband and gives him the lowdown on all the ladies, namely Royce, a former Orlando Magic and Miami Heat dancer, who hasa child with Magic center Dwight Howard -- a big no-no to the Wives. "I think what bothers me most about Royce is she was a dancer," Meeka tells Speedy. "She crossed the line. I don't know how I can be a wife and be her friend. You know how I feel about stuff like that."
Although Meeka and Royce did have a face-to-face meeting in the premiere, it was hardly a showdown of Wife vs Dancer.
"Ok, it was a rule you're not supposed to fraternize with players," Royce says to Meeka. "However, you can't really tell someone who they can and cannot be with."
Meeka must quickly get her claws out because in a preview for the season, she seems to have dove head-first into the catfights. "Meeka is a trouble-maker," Tami says matter of factly.

Call of Duty Elite Adds Social Layer to Hit Gaming Series [PICS]

Video game company Activision has finally revealed Elite, a new social layer for its wildly popular Call of Duty games. Elite was designed to unite the massive community of Call ofDuty players as well as provide tools to help gamers of all levels improve their skills.
Cross-platform services are becoming more popular as video game designers realizetheir community isn’t console-specific . Web playerswant to test their mettle against console players and vice versa. Elite goes beyond the game to include social networks like Facebook. Users can link up their Facebook accounts to Elite topull in Likes and automatically find friends who are also using the service.
Elite also introduces groups and clans, which will play a much larger role in Modern Warfare 3 , the next Call of Duty game. Groups are largely open and can be based on anything. Like eating lobster? You can join or create a “Lobster” group. Like playing with machine guns? There’s a group for that. Same with “Yankees” or “Los Angeles.” Groups operate similar to fan pages on Facebook. Users can track and compare themselves to these mini-communities of players. Users can join a totalof 64 groups.
Clans are more limited. Userscan only belong to one clan and there is a cap on how many players can be in a clan. The Call of Duty folks were tight-lipped about how clans will play into the next iteration but promised they would be key.
We recently sat down with the game’s designers for a demo of Elite. The room, a penthouse hotel room in Manhattan, featured rows of huge black computers with the Elite skull logo. There, they talked about their goals and plans for Elite. The service is available on web browsers, consoles and mobile apps and will work with all future Call of Duty games, including Black Ops , the most recent game in the series. Elite features four main sections: Career, Connect, Compete and Improve.

Capitol Police not investigating Weiner incident

The Capitol Police are not investigating what Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) is calling an online identity theft that led to a lewd photograph being posted from his Twitter account. Over the weekend, a photo of a man’s bulging underwear was sent to a Seattle woman from Weiner’s active Twitter account. Weiner said his Twitter and Facebook were hacked, and on Monday he said he’d hired an attorney to look into civil and criminal actions.

Will Smith’s Death is a complete hoax

Will Smith is very much alive and well, currently filming “Men in Black III” in New York, which is a wonderfully long 9000 miles away from New Zealand.
Will Smith has been the latest target for death hoaxes, ranging from a car accident to a drug overdose and, now, a tragic 60 ft drop from a New Zealand cliff while filming his latest movie. Kauri Cliffs also falselyclaimed the lives of George Clooney, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jeff Goldblum and Tom Hanks, to name a few.
Even Jaden Smith,Will’s Smith’s teenage son, had notbeen able to escape these death hoaxes, apparently dying from a snowboard accident in one report and from Kauri Cliffs in another. But rest assured, both father and son are alive.
So now that the air is clearedof these death rumors concerning Will Smith and hisson, why don’t you sit back and bask in the knowledge that Will Smith and his son will continue to make films for us to enjoy, beginning with “Men in Black III” which is set to hit theatres in 2012.

*Actress and business woman LisaRaye is letting loose her maternal instincts by managing her daughter Kai’s budding career on the fashion runway while launching her own clothing line with PZI Jeans®, called The LisaRaye Collection.

In preparation for the launch this summer, LisaRaye came to Los Angeles to select models with curves to wear her signature white jeans – a brand that will fit the contour of women who have hips and small waists, without the dreaded gapping in the rear. The jeans will be available in sizes 4-18 and lengths short to extra long.

“Women need a jean like this because not all of us are a size 2 or a size 4 or a size 6 and we always have that problem in the waist,” said LisaRaye, who fell in love with the PZI brand from the moment she first tried a pair on. “These jeans FIT! I’m putting on my designer hat and I’m really excited about it!”

“I’m actually supporting Kai and teaching her at the same time because mommy has been there, done that,” said LisaRaye. “I’m excited that she’s embraced her own curves and who she is. This is not something that I have given her. This is something that she is earning for herself and I’m very proud.”

Hair today, art tomorrow at fantasy coiffure event

More than 500 combs, thousands of clips and 200 mirrors will all be put to work this weekend to create stunning works of 'hair' art.

Swans, snakes, flower arrangements, boats and ships are just some of the 'fantasy' creations previously designed from the flowing locks of patient models for the Organisation Mondial Coiffure European Championships in hair, beauty, nails and bodypainting.

More than 400 hairdressers from countries including Austria, Croatia, Norway, Russia and the US will fly into Dublin for the two-day competition at the RDS this weekend.

Saundra Fabian, president of the Irish Hairdressers Federation, said they had been campaigning for five years to host the event, which has been staged in Berlin, Las Vegas, Milan and Paris. "People will pick up hair and beauty tips. It is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in making themselves beautiful," Ms Fabian said.

Around 5,000 hair and beauty enthusiasts are expected to attend the event in the RDS, with tickets costing from €20 a day. Many of the trainee and junior competitions will involve cutting and styling mannequins, which come with real hair attatched .

"Some of the senior stylists also work on mannequins as they don't have to bring live models with them. Even though we argue live models don't eat a lot anyway so it wouldn't be that expensive and mannequin heads are expensive to buy," Ms Fabian joked.

The mannequin heads cost around €100 and are manufactured with real hair, mainly in China or Italy. It may take a stylist up to nine months to create a 'fantasy' creation around a particular hairstyle. Ms Fabian said the current trend in hair fashion involved long hair with curly blow-drys.

'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition': Is NBC's 'Loss' ABC's 'Biggest' Gain?

James
Rejected reality contenders are put to the test in TV's newest diet and fitness challenge series.

Fans of NBC's The Biggest Loser will be happy to know that the new show is from the same producers at 3 Ball Prods. But for those looking for something a bit different, 3 Ball CEOsJ.D. Roth and Todd Nelson insist that this is a new take on weight loss.

PHOTOS: Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition

For starters, Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition features participants who were actually rejected from Biggest Loser for weighing too much.

"Everything comes from an authentic place for us," Roth told The Hollywood Reporter. "So, you know, when you send a contestant home that's too fat to be on The Biggest Loser. It came out of passion. I can't do it. I can't send these people home to die. They're going to die. It's wrong. We got to do something for these people."

And that's where the idea for Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition was born.

"[We thought], well, let's create a show for them," Roth added. "That comes from an honest place. When things come from an honest place, something good usually happens."

Gwyneth Paltrow strong performance in Country Strong and guest spots in musical drama Glee

ACTRESS Gwyneth Paltrow will be adding two more hyphens to her resume. With the publication of a cookbook and her strong performance in Country Strong and guest spots in musical drama Glee, she is a confirmed actress-author and a wannabe actress-singer-author, depending on the outcome of her negotiations with the record companies on releasing an album.
Paltrow made a high-profile comeback in 2008 with her appearance in the first Iron Man movie as Pepper Potts, the personal assistant and budding love interest of the comic hero. This was after a hiatus of several years to raise her children with husband Chris Martin, frontman for the popular British band Coldplay.
Sensational: Jennifer Lopez is an indefatigable multihyphenate.
In the same year, she did a food show called Spain ... On The road Again, in which she got to show off her knowledge of the Spanish language and which probably sparked her interest in My Father’s Daughter, the title of her cookbook written in tribute to her late father.
The book was released last month to both favourable reviews of her simple recipes and unfavourable comments on her airy, “unintentionally humorous” autobiographical notes in the book.
Those inclined towards the 38-year-old will say that she is multi-talented while the unkind are apt to dismiss her cookbook as a vanity publication. Hers is a common story among stars who branch out from their comfort zone.
Many celebrities are keen to cross over to new gigs – actors going into singing and vice versa – despite the difficulties involved and even though most never quite make it in the new field. Those who do succeed are in a good place earning good money.
Jennifer Lopez comes to mind as an indefatigable, and successful, multihyphenate. She is one of the few who straddled both acting and singing successfully for many years, even though fans often see her as a singer first and an actress second.

Evelyn Lozada: New 'Basketball Wives' Features Lozada, Drama and Little Else

Evelyn-lozada-basketball-wives_crop_340x234Evelyn Lozada is Holding 'Basketball Wives' Together By A String
If you have ever read anything that I have written before, I apologize. I tend to get a bit snooty when it comes to my entertainment.

This includes TV shows as well s sporting events. I have covered everything fromDancing with the Stars to Cricket. While I am still trying to grasp the finer workings of Cricket, I have a pretty good grasp on quality television.

I have after all been watching since I was able to open my eyes. I have tried to watch Basketball Wives, a show on loosely tied to anything basketball.

MUST READ: The 50 Best and Worst Bobbleheads in Sports

Its biggest star, Evelyn Lozada is marrying Chad Ochocinco, a wide receiver for crying out loud. My biggest problem with the show is substance.

I love me some drama, I really do. If there was a subscription needed to watch Maury Povich, I would fork over whatever the cost.

The drama in Basketball Wives is just to over blown. I can't remotely relate to their plights, and I am really trying people.

The third season premiered on Monday evening. Once again I was treated to wives and girlfriends of past and current athletes living the good life.

They have everything at their finger tips, yet they can't help but back stab and cat fight for the duration of the show. We have been promised by Lozada on her Twitter account that more drama is on the way.

This is the first and last time I will ever state this, I can't take anymore drama. I am done.

Sports Illustrated alleges years of violations by Ohio State under Jim Tressel

Ohio State isn't out of the woods with the NCAA even thoughJim Tressel has resigned his job. A Sports Illustrated articledelves deeper in the career of Tressel and alleges years of rules violations by the coach and his players.

The article takes Tressel to task for is apparent ignorance of players receiving money and improper benefits, including cars and marijuana, during his time at Youngstown State and Ohio State.

It also touches on Tressel's actions as assistant for the Buckeyes under Earle Bruce in the 1980s. Here's an excerpt of the article:

One of Tressel's duties then was to organize and run the Buckeyes' summer camp. Most of the young players who attended it would never play college football, but a few were top prospects whom Ohio State was recruiting. At the end of camp, attendees bought tickets to a raffle with prizes such as cleats and a jersey. According to his fellow assistant, Tressel rigged the raffle so that the elite prospects won -- a potential violation of NCAA rules. Says the former colleague, who asked not to be identified because he still has ties to the Ohio State community, "In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach. Then, in the afternoon, he would go out and cheat kids who had probably saved up money from mowing lawns to buy those raffle tickets. That's Jim Tressel."

SI claims at least 28 Ohio State players dating back to 2002 are either known or alleged to have traded or sold memorabilia in violation of NCAA rules in exchange for tattoos from local Columbus businesses.

Former defensive lineman Robert Rose was one of those players. He has no regrets about receiving impermissible gifts.

"I knew how much money that the school was making," he told the magazine. "I always heard about how Ohio State had the biggest Nike budget. I was struggling, my mom was struggling. ... It was just something that I had to do. I was in a hard spot. ... [Other] guys were doing it for the same reasons. The university doesn't really help. Technically we knew it was wrong, but a lot of those guys are from the inner city and we didn't have much, and we had to go on the best we could. I couldn't call home to ask my mom to help me out."

Sports Illustrated contacted the school for comment about the new allegations in the story Friday. The magazine was referred to Tressel and his attorney, Gene Marsh. Neither responded to inquires during the weekend. And on Monday after 10 seasons Tressel stepped down.
