Wozniacki, Sharapova, Schiavone reaches Rome Quarter-Finals

World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova of Russian and Francesca Schiavone of Italy have advanced into the quarter-finals of the Internazionali d’Italia tennis tournament in Rome.
Caroline Wozniacki defeated world No. 24 ranked Yanina Wickmayer of Belgian with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in the third round match. She had taken 1 hour and 48 minutes to wrap-up the match on Thursday. In the quarter-finals, Wozniacki will face former world No. 1 and 2010 Rome Masters runner-up Jelena Jankovic on Friday.
The Rome Masters second seed Francesca Schiavone thrashed Slovakian veteran Daniela Hantuchova with a 3-6, 6-2 and 7-5 in the third round of the Rome Masters. She had grabbed the match in 2 hours and 39 minutes on Thursday. Francesca Schiavone will meet Samantha Stosur of Australia in the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters on Friday.
The world No. 7 ranked Maria Sharapova will play against Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in the Rome quarters on Friday. Sharapova has overcome with Shahar Peer of Israel in the third round with a 6-2 and 6-2 scoreline on Thursday. Maria Sharapova will play a tough battle against Victoria Azarenka in the quarters, as Azarenka clinched the victory over world No. 16th ranked Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russian in three sets with a 6-4, 4-6 and 6-2.
