Lady Gaga ‘s controversial hit, ‘Judas,’ has been touched by the hand of Hurts — obviously bringing us the ‘Judas’ (Hurts Remix) we have for you here today. The gothed-out version of Mama Monster’s jaw-dropping tune is complete with synthesizers, as is to be expected from the synth-friendly pop duo from Manchester. We’re not sure how the pair nabbed the big Gaga, gig— but they seem as excited about it as we are. “It’s a true honour to be asked todo the remix for GaGa,” singer Theo Hutchcraft relishes . “We produced it in the middle of our Asian tour — in between the go-go clubs of Kuala Lumpur, themodel-filled skyscraper swimming pools of Singapore and a bloody bar-room brawl in downtown Hong Kong,” he says of the ‘Judas’ remix. “Judas would be proud.” In theory, it would probably be pretty intimidating to mess with an artist who has changed the face of music for, like, ever — kind of like altering a recipe in Paula Deen’s kitchen, if you will. But when you’ve got nothing butgreatness to work with it’s pretty hard to mess it up! We dig Hurts’ take on ‘Judas,’ andthink their spooky additions make the song a fun late-night dance tune … Something you’d find in a dark basement night club, maybe back in the ’80s. In short, we give this guy two thumbs up and four stars. The ‘Judas’ remixes EP drops Monday, May 16, and will also feature blends from R3HAB and Chris Lake.
