Baidu and Google Celebrate Duanwu Festival With Doodles

Call it Duanwu, Dragon Boat or Dumpling festival: Both search giants, Baidu and Google are celebrating the festival today with doodles on their front pages.

Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China are having public holidays today. Sadly, there is no day off here in Singapore. But as Chinese, we do still celebrate the festival with our families, mostly by just eating dumplings together.

The festival occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar on which the Chinese calendar is based.

Besides eating dumplings, the festival is also a day for dragon boat races. The video below, with more than 400,000 views, provides a good overview on the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. If you’re interested to learn more, check out the Dragon Boat Festival page on Wikipedia.

Have a great Dumpling Day! 端午快乐!

'Sister Wives' finale: Season 3 in Las Vegas with a new baby?

"Sister Wives" brought Season 2 to a close Sunday night (June 5) with a season finale that saw the entire 21-member Brown family packing up and leaving Utah, due to the investigation into their family.

The family moved to Las Vegas, NV and temporarily bunked in a four-bedroom vacation rental. Each wife got her own bedroom and the 16 children (minus the baby) were scattered hither and yon throughout the house. While the younger kids thought it was a great adventure, the older kids were not happy about being uprooted to Nevada. They did seem to understand, however, how important it was to leave Utah and to stay together as a family.

It was interesting to watch the family search for four houses near each other. We wish they had the ability to just build one big house where everyone can live, but perhaps that will start next season. It was also interesting to see the new neighbors' reactions to the Browns. Would you care if a "plig" family moved in next door? We don't think we would.

The biggest news once the family reached Las Vegas (which we already knew, since the show films months in advance) was that Kody and Robyn are pregnant, which will be their first biological addition to the family and will bring the grand total to 22. They left us with quite the cliffhanger about how Meri would take the news, as she had some jealousy issues with Robyn plus she could only have one child.

There is no official word about renewal for a Season 3 yet, but the show does well for TLC and we find the subject matter pretty inter.

Luc Ferry has been interviewed by police

Luc Ferry, who is also an accomplished writer and media commentator, was tryingto make the point that in France - unlike in other countries - there are laws that prevent the reporting of private peccadilloes. He told a Canal-Plus TV chat show that he had it on good authority that a certain ex-minister had been "caught at an orgy in Morocco with young boys". He did not divulge any names. The rumour was widely known, he said, buthad never been reported because the ex-minister was protected by the law. The revelations came as another French politician, George Tron, resigned from government after being accused of sexuallyharassing female staff. Mr Tron denied the allegations. Mr Ferry presumably intended to defend the French system - showing how journalists in France cannot simply shovel gossip into the public arena. Instead, he found himself at the centre of a monumental row, accused of doing exactly that: shovelling out gossip.
